Gagan’s Giveaway : Two Premium RS accounts

posted by thinkdj at 1:10 am in Blog review

Gagan, over at 84productions has his first contest goin on. Two lucky winners get to take home :D an RS premium account each.. The purpose of the contest is got 84productions to spread the word and share knowledge about computers, internet etc., as Gagan quotes it on his blog.

Although many may find no use for an RS premium account here in India, I beg to differ. What a premium account means is no nagging time waits and unlimited number of parallel downloads for 2 whole months for download freaks like us.. Getting a premium RS account is not a trivial matter after all..

Well, if you have an email ID (do you?) and a blog, be sure to try it out … There are a set of rules to be followed, which can be seen here. The winners will be chosen on Aug 6. The last date for entries is Aug 5. So, what are you waiting for ?

Grey Aero glossy-iconed Firefox 3 theme

Aero Silver Fox 3.0.1

Aero style glassy icons on a light background.

Aero Fox Sliver redone for Firefox 3. Aero style glassy icons on a light background.

This theme is my basic version meaning it contains the full features of the navigator toolbar, bookmarks toolbar and tabs while the rest of the theme uses features from the default Windows theme. This is a lite version of the theme for users who need nothing more than just the main toolbar and do not use a lot of extensions and other add-ons.

Google has plans for Digg

posted by thinkdj at 1:07 am in Acquisitions,Google

google digg

Google Inc. has signed a letter of intent with Kevin Rose to purchase the social news site Digg.com for around $200 million, tech blog TechCrunch reported.

In contrast to Google News, where the stories are selected by computer algorithm, Digg’s news stories are submitted by users and ranked according to user approval ratings. It is known that Google was interested in using Digg’s technology to help improve its search results by having users vote on their quality.

Digg was formed in 2004 by young entrepreneur Kevin Rose who used a programmer he found online for $10 an hour. It is known that he paid $1,200 dollars for the domain name digg.com and $100 a month for hosting it, which is now ranked as one of the 100 most trafficked sites on the Internet by Alexa.

Digg has so far raised around $11.3 million in VC. Most of Digg’s revenue comes from a three-year ad deal with Google rival Microsoft, which may be terminated on a sale to Google, TechCrunch said. Ouch !
