Two new plans have been introduced by BSNL India.
Home 500 C and Home 500 C+
These plans include phone rental. Earlier the rental-free plan was only with 900 UL.
Difference of both plans is in data transfer, ie. Combo 500 [1.5 GB limit] is meant for low internet usage people whereas Combo 500 + [2.5 GB limit] is meant for comparatively high internet using people with minimal usage of calls.

Dear Saurabh, you were wrong to proceed on unlimited usage without confirmation. You should have seen the status of your request by logging onto your usage account. Secondly, you applied in the end of April, 2008 and it is common for any Govt. Office to consume 15 days to take further action. By the way, the BSNL, at most, could charge your usage for the first week of May 2008 as per your previous plan; and could upgrade your plan from the second week of May, 2008.
Anyway, you MUST write to the higher officers (not the officials or small level officer) to ask them to rectify the mistake.
When I opted for 500 Plan, I checked that in 4 days, I had downloaded 800 MP. I immediately applied for upgraded plan, and now i am getting a bill of Rs.750 for unlimited usage.
Write a stong letter to BSNL Officer by SPEED POST only, and also send a copy thereof to the higher officer at their Head Office. I hope that they will surely decrease 50% of your bill. (But if you paid the amount of bill, never expect for any concession because money once paid to Govt. exchequer can’t be refunded.

I took a BSNL Home 500 plan on March 11 2008 and gave a request to upgrade the plan to Home 750 Unlimited plan on the last week of April 2008. My biling of March and April 2008 were in accordance to the Home 500 plan.
I was told that the unlimited plan would be effective from May 1 2008 from the next billing cycle .. today when I received the bill for the usage in May .. I saw that I had been charged Rs 7000 (seven thousand) !!! instead of Rs 750 .. My total usage during the month of May was around 7 GB ..
Please tell how to proceed ..
hey rahul u have switch off and switch on modem at 2.00 to start your free time.. then u have to switch off ur modem b4 8.00..and also check ur pc time wid bsnl server time..
i am using bsnl bb home 500C plan .my bill is very high .i noticed that in bill they are charging for the free net usage during 2.00am to 8.00am also. how can i rectify this?

always start ur download from 2.15-745am….
happy hours is b/w 2-8 no questions but our safty hours is 2.15-745am…lols

I changed my BB plan to 500c on 4.4.08 and I was told by the bsnl official that the plan will be calculated from 1.4.08, But only on 21.4.08 service orders shows the new plan and traffic shows 0 in night free usages.I too confused how my bill going to be calculated………..

I recently applied for change of plan from 500combo plus to latest 750ul-plus unlimited download plan..
I applied on the date of april 22,2008 and in the mid(23-04-2008 and 24-04-2008) the order status was future provisioned.I thought that the plan will be changed from the 1st of next month which is (may 1,2008).But now today on (april 25,08) the order status shows provitioned…
Indeed the speed was still 2mpbs and my usage detail is shown in bulk(21000 mb downloaded) witout seperating the night usage between 2a.m-8a.m as for in my previous 500c scheme.Before that my day usage was 1360 mb and night free usage was 19640 mb.
And also for 750UL-plus plan there is no rental for phone so no free calls for me 1.rs/call.
I used my free phone call limit 175 calls from my previous 500c plan..
I am afraid that the calls will be charged and also doubtful about how they bill for me this month.will they exclude all my night usage from the bill. Please help me to keep myself cool.

Dear readers, I came across today a new term MCU CHARGE @ Re.1/- per pulse. What does it mean? Now the tariff of HOME-UL-900 has been reduced to Rs.750/- w.e.f 1st april 2008. But what’s the meaning of that MCU CHARGE?
I download atleast 500 MB daily, and voice chat with my brother via YAHOO MESSENGER OR G-TALK. My landline is one-way, i.e. it has a fixed rental of Rs. 250/- per month with NO outgoing facility. KINDLY TELL ME IF I WILL HAVE TO PAY JUST RS.750/- (earlier 900/-) per month, or will such a MCU CHARGE WILL APPLY TO ME?

I have check all the tariff plans. Well, there should not be any problem in getting ur plan converted to Home500C because you are not reneging on your committment for a certain period of time, rather you are trying to UPGRADE your plan that will generate more revenue for BSNL. Hence, you MUST write by emails to the higher authorities of bsnl, otherwise the lower level officials will not pay any heed to your request. Mention in your application just as I have told you. Moreover, also enlighten them about the “free conversion at any time” that they have mentioned in their website (under FAQ section). Now it is upto you to fight for your right. You are ready to pay more and that too for the plan that the BSNL has launched, then why the hell they have audacity to decline your request? In my life I have faced various objections from the Govt. officials (even though I am also one of them), but I have alwasy got my every work done by writing to higher authorities. I hope you will send emails to the higher authorities today. Write the subject as “TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN AT BSNL” so that everyone becomes responsible after receiving ur email.

BSNL has changed my plan when I redressed my grievance thru email to the higher authorities. Now my plan is Home-900, and now I am downloading unlimited movies, softwares and songs. Today I have downloaded 800 MB. So I recommend everyone to convert your plans to HOME-900, otherwise even the surfing and checking emails twice a day can consume your 2.5 GB download-limit in a week.

There was such a problem in most exchanges until last month as there was an upgradation of exchange hardware to accomodate support for VoIP and On demand TV.. Maybe your exchange is in the process of the hardware upgradation, in which case, it is true.
When I requested I be changed from Home 250 plan to Home 500C (combo plan),…BSNL people said existing customers cant change …is this true ? or if not what can I do about it..I am from Virudhunagar district tamilnadu

Search for “Net Activity Diagram” software by using GOOGLE SEARCH ENGINE. Download this freeware software and install the same on your computer. It will keep track of how much u have downloaded and how much u have uploaded.
Sometimes I have felt that this software shows somewhat exagerated data of download/upload. Hence it would be better to check ur ACCOUNT USAGE by visiting the site:

and using ur username and password that has been provided to you by the personnel of BSNL. For more detail, if required, go through this entire blog section that is dedicated to bsnl internet connection. Bye for now.

There is no charge for chatting thru Google talk, but the chatting amounts to output of data and that will add to your download limit. Otherwise google doesn’t charge anything.

Sometimes the ACCOUNT USAGE doesn’t appear. But if you check your account at 12 midnight, it will appear. The problem that I face is that my username and p/w doesn’t work while trying to check my email account. But I don’t give a damn, becasue I never utilise any service of any government company/organisation for their inefficiency. Taking broadband from BSNL was my helplessness as I could not avail service of BSNL’s rival company (like tata and connect) because they don’t provide the service in my area due to non-cable network in my area.
You should write to BSNL’s help centre with your queries, or email to any of the officer to redress ur grievance. The list of grievance officers has been uploaded in the bsnl website. Search some links at http://www.bsnl.in.

Dear friends, I had taken Braodband connection HOME-500 (2.5 GB FREE). At the end of very first day, I consumed 500 MB and that too without downloading anything more than 20 MB. The rest of the usage was on account of web surfing. What’s my fault if nowadays the webdesigners are using high quality images for their websites and all that costs us. After 2 days, I visited BSNL Office and asked them to change my plan to HOME-UNLIMITED-900 but they refused to do so, stating that I have committment period of 3 months in the old plan and I will have to stick to the existing plan for 3 months.
Suppose I get HOME-UL-900 PLAN, then will I be able to download even 100 GB of data in a month without paying anything extra? Will I have to pay just Rs. 900/- per month? Internet usage is still highly costly in India. Is there any plan for unlimited download launched by any rival company like TATA or REliance or Connect? If I continued to visit a few heavy websites, I’ll go bankrupt very soon.
I already have a home 250 plan. I am intrested in 500c plan. What will be charge. Customer care says they shall charge me 500 advance rental. I already have broadband for last 2 years why again chrage. Is that true.

hi everyone…i recently shifted from airtel to bsnl…i am having home500c+ plan which i get 2.5gb usage…my queries are
1..i wanted to know how much approx hours of surfing can be done(if i download nothing)in 2.5gb limit
2..at the end of the month would i get a rebate for the free time zone(2am-8am)…or they would not include the downloading done at that time
3..if i change my plan to 900 unlimited,do i have to give a security deposit

It depends on what kind of a surfer you are.. If you think you can keep it within 1.5 GB /month, 500C is ok.. But if you’re gonna do more of surfing, go for the 500C+.
