Disabling Firefox’s Offline Mode

Sometimes Firefox automatically switches to “Offline Mode” [Work Offline Mode] on trivial issues like a router reboot or a temporary DNS Error. The trouble is, FF fails to come back out of it even after the problem is resolved after a few minutes.

In Firefox’s addressbar type about:config

Then enter the following in “filter”

network.manage-offline-status to “false”

toolkit.networkmanager.disable to “true” [This setting’s available only in older versions of FF]

browser.offline-apps.notify to “false”

If this did not work for you, try out this (A bit too complex) or get this addon to make things simpler.

Alternate Addon: StayOnline
