Internet Explorer 9 Beta scheduled for September 2010


Take a Test drive of IE9 today. This release adds support for W3C standards including HTML5, audio, video, and canvas elements, the Web Open Font Format (WOFF), and many other new and improved capabilities.

According to several recent reports, Microsoft had been targeting August as its beta delivery target for IE 9. Microsoft has been sticking to its promise to deliver new technology preview builds of IE 9 every eight weeks. The latest IE 9 test build was released in mid June. They have support for modern standards like HTML5 Canvas and CSS3.

The IE 9 pre-release builds Microsoft has released so far on their site has been developer-targeted. They include the new Microsoft JavaScript engine ( codenamed “Chakra”) and the new graphics subsystem, coupled with a home page full of test sites. There’s no back button and no built-in security. It’s basically the IE 9 rendering engine and early tools.
