Dear honewy , u need directx 10 supported componet.
and remember, nvidia 6 and 8 series dont not support direct x 10. so go for nvidia 9 sereis . but my suggestion is, go for ati radeon. ok
here is the minimum requirement for gta4

Dual core processor (Intel Pentium D or better)
* RAM: 2GB
* Hard Drive: 18GB free hard disk space
* Video Card: 512MB Direct3D 10 compatible video card or Direct3D 9 card compatible with Shader
* Drive: DVD-ROM dual-layer drive

u try to run this game in ur pc. but u forget the minimum requirement of the graphic card whic is 256 MB DirectX® 9.0 compatible card / nVIDIA® GeForce™ 6600 / ATI Radeon® X1300 . ok the chipset number is very important. and which company graphic card u brought .plz inform .then i can help………….Master.chief

that game sucks!!!!!

And that requirements are fake cuz ive played this game in my friends computer with 512mb ATI graphics card, 2.00 dual-core processor, 3gb DDr2 ram, directx 9.0, windows 7. we’ve put graphics settings at minimum.
and the game is slow as shit!!!!!!!

i have 2 processors first 3.00 Ghz and second 2.99Ghz
Nividia GeForce 8400 Gs 512mb 2.00 GB ram and windows xp professional service pack 3 and the game goes slow like shit WHY DOESN’T THE GAME WORK LIKE HE MUST HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!

.lagging occurred becoz of system disabilities..
may be u need high graphic unit or high processor.

ok i run it, i put it best screen resolution but it lagged a bit, i think coz this game is my friend´s own and he made some scratches on disk
