Windows silent updateMicrosoft rolled out a “silent” windows update for XP and Vista, including to those which have turned off Windows Update. This led to complaints in forums and the media, arguing that no company should be able to update a computer without consent.

Microsoft justified their move by telling that the automatic update was absolutely necessary, without this update users wouldn’t have been able to install updates automatically or receive notifications.
