It’s official. Tweetdeck has been acquired by Twitter for over $40 mil (although neither Twitter nor TweetDeck have released the numbers/terms officially)
TweetDeck is one of the most commonly used tool in the social-networking space to combine Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and MySpace streams in one palce. TD offers free iPhone and Android apps to users.
“I am extremely happy and proud to let you know that TweetDeck has been acquired by Twitter,” TweetDeck founder Iain Dodsworth announced on his company’s blog today. “We completed the deal on Tuesday and are now in the process of ‘joining the flock.'”
This is not a first for twitter as it had acquired Tweetie for iPhone and also partnered with TwitPic in the past. In 2008, Twitter had also acquired Summize, a Tweet search engine.
