Yahoo! is not terminating Delicious after all

In out previous post, we’d mentioned that the popular social bookmarking site Del.ic.ious was going to be shut down as a part of Yahoo’s Christmas layoff rampage. Even a “save delicious” petition was circulated!

So, here’s some good news for delicious users. It’s actually being sold and not shut down.

Yahoo had released an official statement regarding the issue soon. “We are not shutting down Delicious. While we have determined that there is not a strategic fit at Yahoo!, we believe there is a ideal home for Delicious outside of the company where it can be resourced to the level where it can be competitive,” the official statement reads.

History: Delicious was founded by Joshua Schachter, who later on, sold it to Yahoo in 2005. Schachter thinks that Delicious is still living the age of Web 1.0, despite of its compatibility with Web 2.0 standards. He is not sure whether he wants to have any say in Delicious related company decisions.
